Community Events & Sponsorships

During the month of April, for every test drive and for every vehicle sold, Lee Nissan contributed meals to CHEW of Wilson.  CHEW is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization that feeds over 550 chronically hungry students each week as identified by the Wilson County School System.  Lee Nissan is proud to be a partner with CHEW in helping eliminate hunger in Wilson County.  Please see the thank you letter below from the chairperson of CHEW Inc.

Dear John,

What an amazing thing Mark Wright and his team at Lee Nissan of Wilson have done for the Children's Hunger Elimination of Wilson (CHEW)!  I am particularly grateful that they allowed the men and women throughout our county to take part in their CHEW campaign.  Their overwhelmingly generous gift of $10,000 will provide 2,000 meals for our chronically hungry children and we are so deeply grateful!  It is because of business leaders like you and Mark Wright that I believe we will be able to fund on a permanent, on-going basis our weekend feeding program for the chronically-hungry children in our public school system.

CHEW is an all-volunteer nonprofit that receives no federal funding.  All monies received go toward feeding our chronically hungry children.  During the 2013-2014 school year, we are once again providing food each weekend for all of these children in the Wilson County Public School System and at Sallie B. Howard School for the Arts as they are identified for us by our school personnel:  those children who come to school so hungry on Monday mornings, it is obvious they have had very little to eat since leaving school the preceding Friday.  As of today, we are providing food for over 550 children weekly.

CHEW remains deeply committed to seeing that in Wilson County no child is hindered from learning, growing, and developing their God-given potential because of hunger.  We are deeply grateful for your support.

Cordially,

Louise McKinnon
